The Most Disturbing Duology I Have Ever Read

I’m slightly embarrassed to admit that I read these books

I am a bubblegum, traditionally published rom-com kinda gal. I like my spice but I also like it with a side of vacation, summertime, and friendship. Not to judge a book, but I like my covers bright, cartoony and eye-catching.

I’ve never been one for bodice-ripping, harlequin romance books, or some of the other fairings found in the likes of Kindle Unlimited.

However, (as always) I saw a book Tiktok that piqued my interest. In reading through I saw many (many) comments recommending this ultra-dark romance book and in particular the duology as a whole. Searching it up on Goodreads, I noticed the first book in the series had a 4.14/5 star rating.

Okay, now you’ve got my attention.

I’m going to link the Tiktok (created by Kimiya at kktreads on Tiktok — shout out to her, I love her Tiktoks) here (forewarning — it is NSFW).

I’ll wait while you watch…

What can I say? I was intrigued.

The book recommended was Hunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton the second book in the Cat and Mouse duology. The first in the series being Haunting Adeline.
