Those who have been following along know that I recently got back into reading fantasy series via the works of Sarah J. Maas.

Delving into fantasy — this is a new genre exploration for me, and I’m excited about the journey I’ve been led on. I’m even contemplating giving long forgotten Song of Ice and Fire series (namely A Feast for Crows where I left off) another kick at the can.

Who am I?

At any rate, I really enjoyed reading the A Court of Thorns and Roses series (lovingly referred to by the acronym ACOTAR). In particular and of note click here if you want my full thoughts on A Court of Mist and Fury the second book in this series (and by far my favourite).

However, it wasn’t all sunshine and roses when reading the ACOTAR series.

I first was introduced to this series after listening to the audiobook on a cross-country road trip with my boyfriend (who was a great sport about the whole thing). Something I learned by listening to this book and following it up with A Court of Mist and Fury was that there is a big difference in my enjoyment from book to book.

I loved ACOMAF and conversely, I hated A Court of Frost and Starlight.
